Orban: We will not step back, regardless of the pressure
Budapest, January 29 (Hibya) – Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that they rejected Ukraine’s accelerated accession to the EU because they want to preserve peace in Hungary, stressing that they will not step back regardless of the pressure.
Hungarian Prime Minister Orban noted that three-quarters of Europeans reject Ukraine’s accelerated accession to the European Union, yet Brussels continues on its path.
Orban said, “Because for them it is enough that only a few European governments have the courage to stand up to Brussels’ impositions; they do not care what the people think.”
Stating that Hungary is one of these exceptions, Orban said, “95 percent of Hungarians have rejected Ukraine’s accelerated accession to the EU because they want to protect our farmers, the security of our families, and peace in Hungary.”
Orban added, “Our patriotic government is doing exactly this in line with the mandate given to it by the people. Regardless of the pressure, we will not step back.”
