Arakchi: The EU’s current stance severely harms its own interests
Tehran, January 29 (Hibya) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyid Abbas Arakchi stated that the European Union (EU) has designated Iran’s National Army as a terrorist organization.
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyid Abbas Arakchi commented on the European Union’s (EU) recent foreign policy positions and sanctions decisions against Iran.
Referring to efforts to prevent escalation in the region, Arakchi said: “At present, many countries are trying to prevent the outbreak of a full-scale war in our region. None of them are European countries. Europe, instead, is busy fanning the flames.”
Arakchi added: “After following the so-called ‘return’ policy at the request of the United States, Europe is now making yet another major strategic mistake by labeling our National Army a so-called ‘terrorist organization.’”
Describing the EU’s stance as hypocritical, Arakchi said: “If we set aside the blatant hypocrisy of selective outrage—doing nothing about Israel’s genocide in Gaza while rushing to ‘defend human rights’ in Iran—Europe’s PR show mainly aims to conceal the fact that it is an actor in serious decline.”
Drawing attention to the cost of these decisions for Europe, Arakchi concluded: “Moreover, since the continent would inevitably be heavily affected by a full-scale war in our region—including the cascading effects of rising energy prices—the EU’s current stance severely harms its own interests. Europeans deserve better than what their governments are offering.”
