UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer enacts Hillsborough Law
London, September 16 (Hibya) – UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that he has fulfilled his election pledge by enacting the Hillsborough Law.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that he has fulfilled his pledge made during the election process by enacting the Hillsborough Law.
The law aims to ensure that state institutions are transparent and accountable to citizens. Starmer said: “As Prime Minister, I made a promise; I said I would enact the Hillsborough Law, which would make it impossible for the state to hide from the people it is meant to serve. Today, I am keeping that promise.”
The law was introduced in reference to the long struggle for justice by the families of those who lost their lives in the 1989 Hillsborough Disaster. The new regulation is intended to prevent the state from evading responsibility in similar situations.
